Bangkok Snobiety is the brainchild of Bruce Miranda and Pedro Franco, two long time friends from Portugal. While Pedro was studying sound design and the technical side of musical production, Ricardo was creating, in punk bands, the instictive element of their direction.
Pedro and Ricardo began to hone in on their strengths and apply them to create a wonderful combination of thick low end, lush atmospherics and unconventional rhythms that makes Bangkok Snobiety the Portuguese export destined for something bigger.
The duo have already made a name for themselves locally, having already been invited to play in the most prestigious clubs in Portigal along side artists like Jon Hopkins, Paul Woolford, Trikk, Midland, Joy Orbison, among others. Lately they have gained support from Jamal Edwards which resulted into a video feature on SBTV.
Their debut album, To The New Era, is a document of what it is living in uptown Lisbon and being surrounded by friends that often came and go from other Europe capitals. It's a testament of change and evolved perspectives on what can be club music. To The New Era displays powerful reasons why they should not only be getting attention in Portugal, but the world. Many may try to categorize their sound as being under the techno umbrella, but the constructions themselves offer much more to the listener. The album with swirling nefarious background whispers, cyborg-esque alarm loops and a gentle rise into a well focused presentation of what the duo means to showcase: their fresh recipe of off kilter kick rhythms, paused movements, crisp high end percussions, and undeniably unique song structures. All of the aforementioned elements combine to present a very visceral collection of material that comes to a close with two collaborative tracks with fellow Portugal artist MMMOOONNNOOO (RBMA14 Grad). Hyperventilating chaotic pulses, droning metallic chords and shattered percussive composition get to the root of the message behind To The New Era: Question definition; Question limitations.
